Treatments of conditions through means not generally used in conventional medicine is called alternative medicine. It is almost always not researched through controlled medical studies. There is much negative criticism in regards to this form of treatment. The majority of this criticism is unfounded. There’s also strengths to non-traditional treatments.

The main criticism regarding alternative treatments is it has not been researched or studied. The dangers have not been discovered and there’s no proof the treatment will work. Some people who claim that the treatments have worked, have observed a ‘placebo effect’. They’ve willed themselves healthy. Treatments that don’t work might cause a delay in using conventional medicine to deal with the condition. In diseases such as cancer, treating cancer in a timely matter is very important in preventing its spread. Some alternative medicines are in fact traditional medicine that any doctor can administer. Waiting to determine someone who only administers non-traditional medicine instead of their normal doctor will create a delay in this treatment. Most alternative remedies are not regulated by the government. Anyone can administer these types of treatments. Individuals who administer alternative treatment might even misdiagnose conditions.

Varying care and treatment options could be good for society. It gives patients more treatments. This will allow them to visit a treatment that works for them. A kind of alternative medicine may go better for them than fliers and business cards. When combined with conventional methods, alternative medicines have a greater chance of curing the condition. Several treatments work great. There has been studies on some alternative treatments which have shown positive results. Message therapy has been shown to reduce stress minimizing pain in patients. A patient has willed themselves healthy did it through alternative therapies.
